( When Watson opened his eyes, he could not remember what had angered him. )
( Sherlock's backside wriggled . . . )
( Holmes did not notice the signs . . . )
( It started with biscuits. )
"It must stop here, however," said Bradstreet. "If the police are to hush this thing up, there must be no more of Hugh Boone."
"I have sworn it by the most solemn oaths which a man can take."
( Of course, it did not stop there. )
( Watson laid aside the manuscript. )
"Our months of partnership had not been so uneventful as he had stated, for I find, on looking over my notes, that this period includes the case of the papers of Ex-President Murillo, and also the shocking affair of the Dutch steamship FRIESLAND, which so nearly cost us both our lives."
